Talk to us
We are based in Albrighton and work across the region, remotely and on site where it helps. Tell us what you are dealing with and we will tell you honestly what you need, including if that is less than you expected.
Distance, connectivity and what they change
North Wales covers a great deal of ground with a small number of large employers and a very large number of small ones, and connectivity varies more here than almost anywhere in England and Wales. That is not a footnote. It shapes what good advice looks like.
- Where the connection is poor, somebody has improvised a fix. A remote desktop exposed to the internet, a port forwarded to a machine, a consumer router doing a job it was not designed for. These arrangements outlive the problems that caused them.
- Backups that depend on upload bandwidth frequently are not completing. A cloud backup configured on a thin upstream can fail quietly for months while reporting success.
- Satellite and mobile failover are now common and perfectly sensible, but they change what is exposed and tend to be configured less carefully than the primary link.
- Site visits are expensive in time, which is a good argument for getting remote work right rather than for ignoring the sites.
Tourism, hospitality and seasonal operations
A large part of the regional economy runs on visitors, which brings card payment environments, booking platforms, guest wireless and a workforce that turns over heavily between seasons.
The recurring issues are predictable and fixable. Seasonal staff accounts that were never closed. Booking and payment systems operated by a provider, where the division of responsibility has never been read. Guest wireless that reaches further into the business network than anybody intended, usually because it was set up quickly to solve a complaint.
A short review before the season rather than during it is worth considerably more than anything bought in a hurry in August.
Agriculture and food production
Farming and food processing across the region are far more connected than the sector’s reputation suggests. Herd and crop management, environmental monitoring, grain handling, traceability systems required by buyers, and a farm office that frequently sits on the same connection as the house.
Food businesses supplying the major retailers face an additional layer, because retailer assurance schemes have begun asking security questions alongside the traditional quality and traceability ones. Those questionnaires are usually answerable without major change, but they do need somebody to read them properly.
Welsh public sector and the supply chain
Public bodies in Wales purchase through their own frameworks and portals, and suppliers meet assurance requirements there as they would across the border. Cyber Essentials remains the common baseline, and the audited level appears where systems or personal data are involved.
If a tender or framework has specified something and the wording is ambiguous, send it over. Reading it properly takes minutes and is a great deal cheaper than certifying to the wrong level.
How we cover the region
We are at Albrighton in Shropshire, close to the border and within easy reach of Wrexham and the north east of the region. For the coast and further west, most work runs remotely, which suits testing and certification well. Where a visit is genuinely warranted we travel and quote it as its own line rather than folding it into a rate. There is a separate page for Wrexham.
Cyber security by town in North Wales
What we see most often in North Wales
- Multi-site organisations with no consistent device standard between sites
- Bilingual service delivery adding systems and suppliers that are easy to leave out of scope
- Manufacturing along the Deeside corridor facing aerospace supply chain requirements
None of these is unusual and none of them is a reason to put the work off. They are simply the things worth checking before you commit to a date. If you want more detail, see fractional CISO support.
Common questions
What cyber security services do you offer in North Wales?
Penetration testing (including AI and LLM), Cyber Essentials and IASME certification, SOC consulting and support, incident response and vulnerability management.
Do you work with North Wales businesses?
Yes. Work for North Wales businesses is delivered primarily remotely, with onsite visits available and any travel quoted up front.
How do we get started?
Book a free call. We will tell you honestly what you need and what you do not, agree a fixed price, and move fast. No obligation.
Our broadband is poor and we have improvised remote access. Is that a problem?
It is the most common finding in the region and it is usually fixable in an afternoon. Exposed remote desktop and forwarded ports are the two to look at first, because both are actively scanned for and neither needs to stay that way.
We run a hotel or holiday business. What matters most?
Closing seasonal staff accounts, understanding who is responsible for what in your booking and payment platforms, and checking that guest wireless does not reach the business network. A short review before the season is worth far more than anything bought in a hurry during it.
We supply a major retailer with food. Are we likely to face security questions?
Increasingly yes, alongside the traditional quality and traceability ones. Those questionnaires are usually answerable without major change, but they need reading properly rather than guessing, because a wrong answer tends to generate an audit.
Do you cover the whole of North Wales?
Yes. Wrexham and the north east are close to us. For the coast and further west most work runs remotely, which genuinely suits testing and certification, and any travel is quoted as a separate line.
Cyber security support in North Wales
Not every organisation in North Wales needs a certificate. Plenty need someone senior to look at what they actually have and say plainly which risks are real. Given advanced manufacturing along the Deeside and Wrexham corridor, with tourism, agriculture and public sector employment across a largely rural area, the honest answer is often that the exposure is smaller than feared in one place and larger than expected in another.
What we typically find is multi-site organisations with no consistent device standard between sites, often a long way from their nearest IT provider, on variable connectivity. That is not a failing, it is what happens when a business grows faster than the systems supporting it. The useful work is deciding which of those gaps actually matters given who you are and what you hold, rather than fixing everything at once.
We work as consultants, not as a platform vendor, so we are not trying to move you onto a monthly licence. Distance is the practical issue in North Wales, so we work remotely first and combine sites into a single visit where one is needed. Where this turns into ongoing work it is usually fractional CISO support or SOC support over your existing tooling.
