IASME Cyber Assurance North Wales

For North Wales organisations whose buyers now want governance evidenced, not just controls ticked. Independently audited, mapped to ISO 27001, and assessed by an appointed IASME Certification Body an hour down the A5.

Why North Wales organisations certify to Cyber Assurance

North Wales is a small business economy almost everywhere you look: around 84% of businesses in the region are micro and another 14% are small, and most jobs sit in those two groups. That matters here, because the certification market is full of advice written for organisations with a security team, and almost none of it survives contact with a twelve-person firm in Caernarfon or a family manufacturer in Buckley.

The pressure comes from a few specific places. Aerospace and advanced manufacturing along the Deeside corridor, anchored by Airbus at Broughton, pushes supply chain requirements down into the local tiers. Welsh public sector and health procurement asks its own questions. And cross-border work into Cheshire, Merseyside and the wider North West brings in English buyers who treat certification as a tick-box prerequisite before a conversation even starts.

Scoping across sites and two languages

Two things complicate scope here more than anywhere else we work. Multi-site organisations spread across the coast and the valleys often have no consistent device standard between sites, because each one was set up by whoever was there at the time. And bilingual service delivery brings in systems, suppliers and content workflows that are genuinely easy to leave out of a scope statement by accident. Neither is a problem, but both are worth getting right at the start rather than at the audit.

Level 1, Level 2, and which one you need

Level 1 is a verified self-assessment reviewed by an assessor. Level 2 adds an independent audit of governance, documentation and controls, includes a GDPR assessment, and is internationally recognised. Aerospace and public sector buyers asking for more than the baseline generally mean Level 2. The full breakdown of both levels and the comparison with ISO 27001 are set out separately.

One prerequisite: you must hold valid Cyber Essentials throughout the Cyber Assurance period. If you do not have it yet, we do both.

Doing the work in North Wales

We are at Albrighton in Shropshire, which puts Wrexham and Deeside about an hour away and the coast within comfortable reach for a booked visit. Level 1 is completed on the IASME portal and reviewed remotely, which suits a region where a lot of organisations would rather not lose a day to travel. Level 2's audit can be remote or onsite. Your submission is read by a qualified assessor, never fed into AI.

What we see most often in North Wales

  • Multi-site organisations with no consistent device standard between sites
  • Bilingual service delivery adding systems and suppliers that are easy to leave out of scope
  • Manufacturing along the Deeside corridor facing aerospace supply chain requirements

None of these is unusual and none of them is a reason to put the work off. They are simply the things worth checking before you commit to a date. If you want more detail, see how it compares with ISO 27001.

Want a gap analysis, a different way to pay, or a question answered first?

Gap analysis. We review your setup against the controls you will be assessed on before you apply and tell you exactly what needs fixing, so nothing is a surprise when you submit. It is quoted against your setup rather than sold as a fixed add-on, so ask us and we will price it.

Anything else. Paying by card here is the quickest route, not the only one. Tell us how you would rather pay and we will sort it. Same if you want a question answered before you buy, or a quote for on-site Cyber Essentials or IASME Cyber Assurance Level 1.

Common questions

What is IASME Cyber Assurance, in business terms?

An affordable, UK-developed information-security standard from IASME, mapped to ISO 27001 and the Government's 10 Steps. It lets you evidence a real security management system to buyers without the cost of full ISO 27001.

Do we need Cyber Essentials first?

Yes. A valid Cyber Essentials certificate is a prerequisite and must be held throughout the Cyber Assurance period. If you do not have it yet, we do both.

We operate from several sites across North Wales. How is that scoped?

Usually as one organisation with multiple locations, which is simpler and cheaper than it sounds. What matters is that the controls are consistent, so we look at the differences between sites early rather than late.

Is the certificate recognised by English buyers?

Yes. IASME Cyber Assurance is a UK-wide standard and Level 2 carries international recognition, so a Wrexham or Deeside supplier can put it in front of a buyer in Chester, Liverpool or London without further explanation.

Can you work with a Welsh-language organisation?

We assess in English, but bilingual systems and suppliers are a scoping question we are used to and happy to work through with you.
